How it works
How Hapo works
Hapo turns your booking link into a money-on-the-line commitment. Clients pay an advance when they book, so the people who reserve your time are the people who show up.

lost every no-show
Every no-show costs you real money. You block the time, buy the supplies, turn down other clients. Then they just don't come. There's no consequence because there's nothing at stake for them. Hapo fixes that.

Clients pay an advance
When a client books, they pay upfront. No advance, no booking. The money lands in your account before you pick up a brush.

You show up. They show up.
Automated reminders go out before the appointment. No-shows forfeit their advance. Your time has consequences now.
Common questions about how Hapo works
How does the advance deposit stop no-shows?
The advance deposit works by attaching a financial consequence to the booking itself. When a client opens your Hapo booking page, chooses a service and a time, they are directed to pay a portion of the fee via Mobile Money before the appointment is confirmed. Until that payment clears, the slot stays open for other clients. The moment payment clears, the slot is locked in their name and they receive a confirmation. This sequence matters: the commitment happens at the point of highest motivation — the moment a client decides they want to book — rather than later, when enthusiasm may have faded. Because the advance comes out of their Mobile Money wallet immediately, the calculus changes. Missing the appointment means losing real money, not just inconveniencing a stranger. Most clients who have paid choose to show up.
When does the money reach me?
Once a deposit clears, the amount appears in your account balance on the dashboard at app.gethapo.com. It does not sit in third-party escrow or require a manual chase — the dashboard is your single view of confirmed bookings, pending amounts, and the total balance available for withdrawal. When a client attends, the advance counts toward their final payment and you collect the remainder on the day. When a client no-shows, the advance is automatically forfeited and credited to your account balance. You can initiate a withdrawal to your Mobile Money wallet directly from the dashboard at any time. All payment processing is handled by Paystack, so withdrawals follow Paystack's standard settlement schedule for Ghana. Your balance updates in real time, so you always know exactly what has cleared and what is still pending.
What happens if a client doesn't show?
If a client misses their appointment without cancelling in time, their advance deposit is forfeited automatically. Hapo registers the no-show and credits the full deposit amount to your account balance. You do not need to send a message, make a call, or take any action — the outcome is enforced without you getting involved. There is no awkward refund conversation and no chasing. The client accepted the deposit terms when they paid, and the policy enforces itself. Hapo also sends automated SMS and email reminders in the hours before every appointment, which significantly reduces the number of no-shows in the first place. The combination — money on the line and a timely reminder — means most clients either attend or cancel early enough for you to rebook the slot, so your time is protected either way.
Do clients need an app or account?
No. Clients do not need to download an application, create an account, or sign up for anything to book with you through Hapo. The entire booking and payment flow happens in a standard mobile browser. You share your Hapo booking link — in a TikTok bio, a WhatsApp message, an Instagram story, or anywhere else you reach clients. The client taps the link, sees your available services and open time slots, picks an appointment, and pays the advance deposit via Mobile Money, all within the same browser session. From the client's perspective it feels no different from any other mobile web transaction. This low-friction design is intentional: every additional step — a download, a sign-up, an email verification — is an opportunity for a potential client to drop off before completing a booking.
Which payment methods do clients use?
Clients pay their advance deposit using Mobile Money — Ghana's dominant payment rail — or by debit and credit card, all processed securely through Paystack. Supported Mobile Money networks are MTN Mobile Money (MoMo), and Telecel Cash, covering every major network in Ghana. Clients who prefer to pay by card can do so as well. The client selects their preferred method at checkout, enters their mobile number or card details, and authorises the payment directly with their network or bank. Hapo does not store any payment credentials — all sensitive payment handling is managed by Paystack, which is PCI-DSS compliant. Because Mobile Money wallets are ubiquitous in Ghana and require no bank account, almost every adult client can pay an advance with nothing more than their phone.
